Located in a residential area in East Manchester, Abbey Hey Allotment site is an award winning and thriving allotment community with over 100 plots. Our membership is wide and varied, with young and old, local residents and city centre dwellers all growing side by side.
We have many types of allotment styles from neat rows, to raised beds, to a more laissez faire approach!
We have a brood of sixteen chickens currently, looked after by the society and several bee hives, which means you can often purchase fresh and locally produced eggs and honey from the community hut. We host regular beekeeping events and sow and grow days.
We have an active and dedicated Committee who have been working hard to improve the site. Recent improvements include a biodiversity roof on the community plot, compost bays, new car park access and tidying up the site.
Our plot holders can be relied on for good advice, cups of tea and a friendly face. We grow a variety of crops, the quality of which has to be tasted to be believed! We host a variety of shows and events throughout the year, so please pop down and say hello!
