Abbey Hey Allotment Society

Located in a residential area in East Manchester, Abbey Hey Allotment site is an award winning and thriving allotment community with over 100 plots.

Members

Our membership is wide and varied, with young and old, local residents and city centre dwellers all growing side by side. We have many types of allotment styles from neat rows, to raised beds, to a more laissez faire approach!

Growing

Our plot holders can be relied on for good advice, cups of tea and a friendly face. We grow a variety of crops, the quality of which has to be tasted to be believed!

Chickens

We have a brood of chickens looked after by the society which means you can often purchase fresh and locally produced eggs from the community hut.

Summer Shows

We usually have a summer show towards the end of August each year where we show off of growing skills and award prizes for the best plots, fruits vegetables and cakes.

Bees

We have made use of a piece of land unsuitable for regular allotment plots to site some bee hives so you can often find local east manchester honey for sale in the community hut.

Getting a plot

You can either pop down and see us or put your name of the Manchester City Council allotment waiting list and they’ll get in touch with us.

Feel free to pop down and see us, the best time to come and see us is a Sunday morning. You can leave us a message here, email us on communityallotahas@yahoo.co.uk or by calling 07543467529 and leaving a message.
